About The Library

Welcome to the GTBIT Library, a hub of knowledge and learning that seamlessly blends traditional resources with modern technology. This fully computerized facility is designed to cater to the diverse needs of our students, faculty & staff, offering an extensive collection of approximately 64,000 books spanning a wide range of subjects and interests. Our library is a treasure trove of information covering subjects from Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, Humanities to contemporary Science and Technology.

Our digital resources are equally impressive, with access to online journals and e-books that ensure our students stay updated with the latest research and developments across various fields. This extensive digital library supports the academic and research endeavor of students and faculty ensuring that cutting-edge information is just a click away.

Complementing our digital offerings, our collection includes 50 print journals essential for those who prefer traditional modes of research and reading. Additionally, we subscribe to 16 newspapers and 15 magazines, providing our patrons with a well-rounded selection of current events, popular culture and specialized interests.

The library’s physical environment is designed with the utmost consideration for comfort and convenience. Our well-lit spaces are thoughtfully arranged to create a welcoming atmosphere conducive to both focused study and relaxed reading. Ample natural light ensures that our students can read and work comfortably at any time of day. Library Services

  • Circulation Service: The Circulation Service includes lending books and other material to students. This section is primarily responsible for issuing, returning, renewing and reserving books as well as registering new library members. The circulation desk also manages overdue fines, lost book replacements and assists users with borrowing queries.
  • Internet Service: The library offers facilities for accessing the internet and e-resources within its premises. Approximately twenty computers are available in the Digital Library section for this purpose. The internet service supports access to online journals, e-books and other digital resources.
  • Reference Service: The Reference Service aids students in locating desired documents and accessing necessary information from diverse sources for reference purposes.This section encompasses collections including encyclopaedias, dictionaries and biographical works. Library staff offer personalized assistance in finding and recommending resources.
  • OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue): The Online Public Access Catalogue is a library management platform that enables users to search for information about desired books from the library's holding and can be accessed within the library.
  • Inter Library Loan Service: This service allows to access resources that are not available in their own library by requesting them from another library that owns the desired item.
  • Reprographic Service: The library offers photocopies of articles and texts to students and teachers from books available in the library. This service includes printing and scanning of documents using high-quality machines to ensure clear and precise reproductions.
  • Book Reservation Service: The library offers a book reservation service, allowing users to reserve required books in advance if currently issued to another user. This service ensures that high-demand materials are accessible to all users.
  • Current Awareness Service: The library provides a current awareness service by displaying newly added titles on the library notice board. This service keeps students informed about the latest resources and developments in the library.
  • Book Bank Service: : The library offers a book bank service by lending six books to students for the entire semester. This service is particularly beneficial for students who may not have the financial means to purchase all required textbooks. The book bank collection is carefully curated to include essential titles across various disciplines.

NDLI Membership



The National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is an extensive virtual repository of learning resources sponsored and mentored by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI offers a range of services beyond simple search and browse functionalities. It serves as a multifaceted educational tool designed to meet the diverse needs of the learner community. Additionally, NDLI caters to researchers and general learners by providing access to a wealth of scholarly articles, research papers and other academic resources.

NDLI's inclusivity is evident in its support for multiple languages and accessibility features. The platform is designed to hold content in any language with interface support available in the ten most widely used Indian languages.

The platform's design also supports all academic levels from primary education to advanced research and lifelong learning. It covers all disciplines providing a comprehensive resource for students, educators and researchers across various fields. NDLI supports popular access devices, ensuring that users can access the repository from computers and smart phones thus enhancing the flexibility and convenience of learning.

NDLI is not just a static repository, it is an evolving platform designed to incorporate best practices from around the world. It enables learners to access global educational resources and facilitates researchers in performing interconnected exploration from multiple sources. NDLI club

Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology is an NDLI Club. The primary purpose of the NDLI Club is to engage users, students, educators, researchers and librarians in activities that enhance their experience with the NDLI platform. This includes organizing events, workshops and training sessions to educate users about the platform's features and resources.



DELNET Membership

DELNET-Developing Library Network, New Delhi is a major resource sharing library network in India connecting more than 8600 institutions in 28 States and 6 Union Territories in India and few other countries comprising of universities, colleges, R&D organisations and medical hospitals etc. Delnet is devoted to the modernization & networking of libraries. It was registered as a society on June 30, 1992. It is located in Jawaharlal Nehru University Campus, New Delhi.

The main objectives of Delnet is to promote resource sharing among the member-libraries by collecting, storing and disseminating information and by offering networked library services to users to undertake research in the area of information science and technology, offer technical guidance to member-libraries, coordinate efforts for suitable collection development, facilitate and promote inter library loan and delivery of documents etc. Delnet has developed Discovery Portal, Knowledge Gainer Portal and Vision Portal (Video Lectures). The portals have sophisticated features for advance knowledge discovery. It is a simple, single window discovery layer which encourages the users to explore the networked library knowledge resources offered through Delnet in a feature-rich environment.

LIBRARY RULES :

  • Strict and absolute silence shall be observed in the library.
  • Members are requested to keep their belongings at the entrance of the library. However, they are advised not to leave cell phones, purses, money, credit cards and other valuables in their handbags outside the library. These items are liable to be lost.
  • Books will be issued to members through library card.
  • The facility of overnight issue is available for selected reference books.
  • An overdue charge of ₹ 1/- per day is applied for books returned after the due date.
  • If the due date falls on a holiday for the Library, the next working day will be considered as the due date.
  • Books will not be issued to members on the ID card of others.
  • If any book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the person responsible shall replace it with a new copy or pay the cost of the book.
  • Any kind of marking, underlining or clipping of books is absolutely forbidden. Readers must replace damaged books or compensate for their value accordingly.
  • The new books and journals received will be displayed on the library notice board.
  • Reference books, newspapers, magazines and journals are not available for circulation.
  • The library card is non-transferable. In case of any loss, please notify the library promptly. A replacement can be obtained for ₹ 25/-

Member Priviledges

All students, staff and faculty members of GTBIT may enrol as members of the GTBIT library by completing the library membership form, accessible at the library.

STUDENT    : • 6 Book bank books for 6 months.
                        • 5 General books for 10 days.
                         • 1 Reference book for 1 day.

TEACHERS : • 6 Books for 3 months.

STAFF         : • 3 Books for 1 month.


Books will be issued to members through a library card.

Overnight borrowing is permitted for specific reference books.

A late fee of ₹ 1/- per day applies for overdue returns.
