Our visit to DMRC (Signaling and Telecom center) organized on the 27th September consisting of 27 students and teachers was a great learning experience. The visit helped us understand a lot of new concepts ranging from the Master Clock concept ,according to which the time should be the same everywhere ,to the details of the Operation Control Centre. We learnt how Barakhamba and Shastri park are OCC centers and they are hot-swappable. They can take over each other's roles in microseconds. We further learnt about how the GPS takes data and the sub master clock installed at every station syncs with the slave clock. We were given a brief overview of the passenger information answer display system(PIDS), the passenger announcement systems(PAS) and the Radio System which has an ultra high frequency (380-430 Megahertz band). The revenue is divided into two parts: unpaid and paid area. We learnt how the stations are connected via ring topology wherein 4-5 stations are connected by a ring. Light refreshments were provided to us, courtesy to the management of our college. We are immensely grateful to Mr. Harnek Singh( head engineer) without whom this visit wouldn’t have been possible. His wonderful team explained to us the working of the equipment beautifully hence making it a memorable learning experience for all of us.
